From 1997-99 Ana Maria Pacheco was the fourth Associate Artist at the National Gallery, London. The Associate Artist scheme carries with it the requirement to make new work inspired by the collection for exhibition at the close of the residency.
Dark Night of the Soul was the main focus of the exhibition, along with paintings in oil on gesso: Luz Eterna (triptych) and Queen of Sheba and King Solomon in the Garden of Earthly Delights.
